"I used the heavy 19" striped linen canvas to make placemats and kitchen towels. I fringed the salvage edge and hemmed the top and bottom of the placemats. Next time I will make the placemats and not prewash as I loved the stiff, crisp texture."

I love this fabric. I opened the package and made my towels immediately. I made a set for myself and for my daughter and daughter-in-law for Christmas. I like the idea of the placemats as well.

Beautiful! I'm wondering if you washed your linen before you made the towels? Or cut them first and then washed. I'm stashing a large piece of heavy linen, scared! I don't know if I should wash first then cut, or cut then wash! Thank you in advance. Terr

There is a fair amount of shrinkage, so make sure you allow if you cut before you wash. I cut and stitched my tea towels first, then washed. I started with 36 inches of length and after hemming and washing, they now measure 28.5 inches.
